Jenna’s Embroidery Themed Baby Shower
Sometimes themes just come to you, and sometimes you have to really go in search of them. I had a couple of ideas for Jenna’s shower but none of them really felt right.
I cannot take credit for this theme, but I am so glad it found me. It was Jenna’s best friend, Allie. She said in passing, “it would be cool if we could learn embroidery and everyone could embroider a monthly milestone hoop for the new baby”. And I literally gasped out loud and said YEP, THAT’S IT!!!
And thus, a theme was born. I ran with the embroidery hoop idea for the invitations. I made them round to look like a hoop and I even downloaded some pens for my iPad to make it look like stitching. I should maybe make a video of this. If you look closely- you can see that the words look like stitches. I know I didn’t technically stitch this invite, but it kind of felt like I did.
We found someone local who teaches embroidery workshops, V. Hand Stitching, to come and teach us all how to embroider. She was absolutely amazing, and would recommend her to anyone.
Virginia drew out all the months and then taught everyone a simple stitch: the backstitch. Then, everyone could get creative with embellishments and she helped them make it happen! She was also there if anyone got stuck or if they needed to get a knot out.

One of my favorite details was the mantle decor. Crabapple Threads Embroidery did a “timeline” of Jenna’s family. Each hoop represented a different milestone in their story- 10 total. Not to brag, but it made Jenna cry.
It was a beautiful day celebrating Jenna and baby Means, crafting, and yapping.
